COURSE TITLE:
Introductory Gene Manipulation and Bioinformatics for Agriculture.


DURATION:
August 20, 2007- December 20, 2007.

TARGET GROUP:
Junior researchers in the field of molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics relating to plants.


COURSE OBJECT:
Trought the training, participants are expected to learn:
A-1.- fundamental techniques related to genetic engineering, including extraction and isolation of nucleic acids from micro-organisms and plants.
2.- manipulating DNA with restriction enzymes.
3.- identification and determination of target gene product
4.- transformation using Agrobacterium.

5.- DNA amplification with PCR.
6.- sequence determination of nucleic acids and proteins.
7.- characterization of transformed plants.

B-1.-fundamental techniques relatted to computer literacy, including:
a) webpage construction (data transfer),
b) fundamental structure of personal computers (construction, OS and software installation).
2.-Genetyx processing (gene sequence, planning)
3.-relational database processing (Access).
